Decades ago, sending and receiving paper greeting cards was meaningful. Now, although British people still buy more cards per person than any other nation - 33 each a year, traditional paper cards have completely lost the elements of surprise and personalization. They are are mass-produced and impersonal.
Pop up cards aren't just making a different type of card, though. They're offering a new kind of experience. Watching the reactions when someone opens pop up cards showed me how special it was. Moreover, my talented design team uses their creativity to bring hip new designs to pop up cards from the beginning that are elegant, tasteful, and awe-inspiring.
Each card at Unipop is created by a designer who then mocks up their idea with 3D modeling software. Each piece of the card is laser-cut to exact dimensions, and the requisite pieces are then totally assembled by hand. The process takes between 20 and 30 minutes. Being able to craft this kind of card is another way that Unipop is differentiating from the rest of the greeting card industry. Although Unipop cards are still being produced on a large scale, it’s being done in a way that doesn’t make them feel mass produced.
The hardest part about picking up a greeting card at a grocery store is finding the right message. You’re often faced with something overdone, or not serious enough to elicit the right reaction. Unipop doesn’t include any pre-written messages on their cards. It helps you have a wonderful chance to tell the truly sentiment to your loved ones.

Unipop tries to change the entire experience of receiving a greeting card. I see my cards as gifts, something that can inspire the same kind of emotional response. By rejecting the gimmicky nature of existing 3D popup cards, Unipop creates a product that feels premium, and so receiving one seems special.
